當時，這個故事被貼上“知識就是財富”的標簽，其實放在今天的工業企業場景中，這是一個“專家經驗發揮價值”的典型。

經驗主義與數據價值的博弈
在工業經濟時代，經驗主義一度發揮著不可替代的價值。
不夸張地說，當代制造業基本都走過一段經驗主義道路，靠習慣和工作經驗來管理企業，靠老師傅在一線車間的經驗傳幫帶徒弟。
直到ERP的誕生，將企業的管理思想逐漸固化和規范下來，用ERP改造管理經驗主義；到MES的應用，將企業生產制造的流程固化和規范下來，用MES改造生產制造經驗主義。

但不得不說，工業經濟時代企業內外部環境相對穩定，挖出多少鐵礦石就一定能生產出多少鐵或鋼材，相對簡單的干擾條件，經驗主義幾乎可以準確地預測和分析結果。而現在，市場的瞬息萬變、技術的飛速發展、工業設備的升級換代，專家的經驗主義是否還能上演“斯坦門茨”般的神奇？

現今的制造企業，是一個由數據充斥的商業綜合體，其數據有很多種。簡單列舉就包括數據采集、數據存儲與備份、數據安全、數據建模與可視化、數據分析與預測等過程數據；涉及的數據類型包括靜態數據和動態數據，也可以分為實時數據和非實時數據，還可以分為結構化數據、半結構化數據和非結構化數據，來源包括企業的信息系統、設備、傳感器、供應鏈以及社交網絡。

如何從這些種類繁多的數據中挖掘價值？如何讓企業從依靠經驗主義過度到數據價值洞察階段？這既是一個相互博弈的過程，也是一個不斷探索和實踐的過程。
制造業與互聯網的鴻溝
在經驗主義和數據價值博弈此消彼長的過程中，互聯網技術發揮著巨大的使能作用。但客觀來講，制造業和互聯網之間的鴻溝比大家想象得要大。
筆者曾經參觀過很多制造企業，不管是總裝線上舞動著機器人手臂的汽車主機廠，或是焊接車間電光火石般的重型裝備企業，抑或是需要更換防塵防靜電服才能進入的電子企業，還是正在流水線上發酵或裝罐的釀酒企業，大多數伴隨著轟鳴的機器聲、或多或少嗆鼻的味道。
當這些企業將某一單點應用作為樣板呈現在同行企業面前時，支撐其業務運行的工藝流程、IT系統或是生產線往往被聲聲稱道，因為還有更多企業沒有達到這樣的水平。

但如果做個橫向對比的話，隨便一個IT公司的實驗室、或是互聯網企業的創新中心，都比以重資產著稱的制造企業車間高大上得多，其信息化應用也要成熟得多。
所以，當云計算、大數據、人工智能這些概念鋪天蓋地襲來的時候，仍然需要對中國制造業的發展現狀保持著理性認識：因為還有很多企業MRP都跑不起來，還有很多企業連物料和圖紙以及其他技術資料的關聯性都做不好，還有很多企業必須依靠手工變更BOM信息。
事實是，制造業與互聯網的融合并沒有想象簡單，制造業長期固化和累積的習慣、經驗、模式，在互聯網強調靈活和快速迭代的特性面前，存在著不只是技術就可以逾越的鴻溝。

國務院印發《關于深化“互聯網+先進制造業”發展工業互聯網的指導意見》
這也是中國政府大力推動“中國制造2025”戰略、2016年出臺《關于深化制造業與互聯網融合發展的指導意見》、2017年簽署發布《關于深化“互聯網+先進制造業”發展工業互聯網的指導意見》的原因。
鴻溝雖在，跨越在即。
